Windows 10 Support: Preparing for the End

If you’re still using Windows 10, now is the time to plan your next step. Microsoft has officially announced that support for Windows 10 will end on October 14, 2025. After that date, there will be no more security updates, patches, or technical support—even if vulnerabilities are discovered. However, for customers that still wants to continue using Windows 10, Microsoft has provided a few ways to do so until October 13, 2026.

At CVTechCare, we’re helping Fresno, Clovis, and Madera users prepare for this transition with expert upgrade services, hardware checks, and honest upgrade advice.

Why Is Windows 10 Support Ending?

Microsoft typically ends support for major versions of Windows after about 10 years. Windows 10 launched in July 2015, and its official lifecycle is coming to a close as Microsoft shifts focus to Windows 11 and future platforms.

Here’s what happens after support ends:

  • No more security updates
  • No feature improvements or bug fixes
  • Increased risk of malware, ransomware, and exploits
  • Third-party software (like antivirus or banking apps) may stop working properly
  • Businesses could fall out of compliance with data protection requirements

If you’re still on Windows 10, waiting too long could leave your system vulnerable.

Should You Upgrade to Windows 11?

That depends on your computer’s age and hardware. Here’s what to consider:

Windows 11 System Requirements:

  • TPM 2.0 (Trusted Platform Module)
  • UEFI firmware with Secure Boot
  • Compatible Intel or AMD CPU (generally 8th Gen or newer)
  • 4GB RAM minimum (8GB+ recommended)
  • 64GB+ storage

If your system is less than 4–5 years old, you may qualify for a direct upgrade.
Otherwise, it may be time to consider a new PC.

CVTechCare offers:

  • Free system eligibility checks
  • Windows 11 installation and driver setup
  • Data transfer and program migration
  • Post-upgrade performance tuning

What If You Can’t Upgrade?

If your PC doesn’t meet the Windows 11 requirements, here are your options:

1. Replace the hardware

Upgrade to a newer desktop or laptop that’s Windows 11 ready.

2. Stay on Windows 10 (Windows 10 ESU program)

You’ll be without security updates after October 2025 (except if you enroll in Windows 10 Consumer Extended Security Updates (ESU) program), which is risky for online banking, work, and personal data.

3. Install Linux or ChromeOS Flex

For lightweight systems used only for browsing or schoolwork, these can extend life for basic users.

At CVTechCare, we can guide you based on how you use your computer—and help you make a smooth transition.
